MESQUITE OUTLAWS WIN FIRST AWAY GAME, 7-2, VS DALLAS SIDEKICKS
ALLEN, Texas (Dec. 26, 2019) – Forward VcMor Eligwe led the Mesquite Outlaws to a 7-2 finish at the Dallas Sidekicks, scoring a hat trick. This is the second meeting between the two teams; the Outlaws also won the first matchup on Nov. 30. A crowd of 2,659 was on hand to watch the game.
The visiting Outlaws scored four unanswered goals in the first half, including three in the first quarter. Eligwe scored two goals in that quarter, with defender Josemaria Oteze assisting on the second. Forwards Jamie Lovegrove and Anthony Powell scored the other two goals for the Outlaws.
The second half opened with a Sidekicks goal by midfielder Arthur Ivo, scored on a power play while defender Rio Ramirez was in the penalty box for tripping. Next, Outlaws defender Mitchell Cardenas scored, also on a power play. In the fourth quarter, Eligwe scored his third goal, assisted by defender Mike Jones. Outlaws midfielder Brenden Lee scored next, assisted by forward Shaun David. Finally, Sidekicks forward Freddy Moojen scored the Sidekicks’ second goal, assisted by defender Ricardinho Cavalcante.
With his three goals, Eligwe was named first star of the game. Outlaws goalkeeper Eduardo “Pollo” Cortes was given second star, and third star went to Cardenas.
The Outlaw’s next game is on the road Dec. 31 vs. the Milwaukee Wave. Kickoff is 3:07 p.m. The game can be viewed on MASL.tv.
